Big news on the latest edition of 'The Palin Update with Kevin Scholla' on SarahNET Radio. During her weekly commentary 'Steel Resolve', former Missouri State Treasurer Sarah Steelman announced she is indeed seeking to fill a soon to be open seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Incumbent Representative Jo Ann Emerson plans to retire in February. The 8th Congressional District covers southeastern Missouri, stretches north into Jefferson County and west to include Rolla.
Steelman addressed SarahNET Radio listeners directly saying, "I am excited about this opportunity to serve the people and want you all to know that I am actively seeking the nomination from the 8th District Congressional Committee."
"I respect and love the strong independent minded people of the 8th," Steelman said. "They are fighters and so am I."
"We know that the fiscal crisis in our country is hurting our families," Steelman said. She also vowed to return power into the "hands of the people."
Under state law, the governor will set a date for a special election. No primaries will be held, meaning that 8th District committees from the state Republican and Democrat parties will each select a candidate to represent their party in the election.
Sarah Steelman was endorsed by Governor Sarah Palin during her run for U.S. Senate in 2012. Steelman has been a contributor on SarahNET Radio's flagship program 'The Palin Update with Kevin Scholla' since October of this year.
Each week Steelman offers commentary during her segment, titled 'Steel Resolve'.
Kevin Scholla, host of The Palin Update is excited for Steelman. "She is such a hard worker and really a brilliant woman," Scholla said. "I am proud of her for throwing her hat into the ring because I know she has the best interests of the people in mind."
